Free Write

The cool September wind blew against Tae's back, sending shivers up her spine. She tried to ignore the cold as she focussed on the task at hand. She drudged on, the sooner she made it to the location the better. No idea of what she was getting into, she took a moment to think about the possibilities. She was fairly certain she had finished any major tasks there were laying around, but with her line of work she could never be sure. Tae had been a deep undercover operative, for the CIA in Ukraine. For the sixties, female operatives were extremely uncommon, so Tae did whatever she could to avoid losing the job. She knew nothing about the package she was sent to pick up, but she knew she had to retrieve it.

Tae turned onto the dirty alley she had been sent to, the smell of garbage overwhelming. She looked around on the stained cement, and didn't see anything particularly strange. Then she saw it, a small white bundle laying next to a pile of wood pallets. Cautiously, Tae got closer, trying to get a better look at the package she was sent to pick up. Then, an ear-piercing wail filled the air, and Tae realized what she had been sent to retrieve.

"A baby?!" Tae asked.
"Yes Tae, a baby." John said.
"As my handler you're supposed to tell me about my missions, why would you leave this out?"
"My job is to give you missions, there isn't a rule that says I have to describe them in perfect detail to you"
"John this is not just a detail, this is the mission"
"Well I assumed you would call, so I'll just fill you in now..."
"You assumed right, but John, I know nothing about children."
"Tae, you don't need to know anything, you were sent there to kill it."

Tae slammed the phone into the receiver, angered by the unexpected news. Realizing she had no choice, she went back into the alley and picked up the baby. As it looked up at her, Tae felt a sense of guilt, knowing what she had to do. She carried the baby to the river, and then made a decision that would change her forever... She dropped it into the river. Tears streamed down her face as she turned to go back to the telephone and ask for her next mission.

Appeture, Shutter Speed, And ISO

1. What part of the body should we closely relate aperture? The pupil.
2. Finish this sentence - the smaller the Aperture the larger the f-stop, the higher the Aperture the smaller the f-stop.
3. In your own words tell me how aperture impacts Depth of Field?

The aperture determines the focus of the picture, and the focus changes the depth in the picture. When something in the background is blurry, then there is less depth within the photo.

When there is a large amount of light, use the lowest ISO possible to retain the most detail, and have the highest image quality

3. What suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO?

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

When photographers that work for big newspaper companies edit their photos, it can create a large amount of ethical controversy. Many people believe that altering people inside the photos is an issue, but some photographers don't agree, which is why they use photo editing. Unethical photo editing can cost photographers their jobs, which is why photographers are careful with the editing they do to their photos.

I think that this type of photo editing is not acceptable. You should not alter an image that would cause controversy. In that situation it is better to leave the image alone, instead of risking causing a problem.

I find this image to be the most unethical, because the newspaper group edited in a minority just so that there would be diversity within the image, by doing this it makes the school seem more diverse, but in reality it is just edited to look like that. This image portrays an inaccurate diversity that isn't naturally occurring within the image.

In my opinion, this is the least unethical image, because they are only changing a small portion of the image, and the woman's smile isn't relevant to the story, so the editing isn't as relevant or offensive. Although, they are creating unnecessary changes to the subject of the image, which is unethical.

CE 4.2

1. 83,591 students.
2. The La Montana Ranch will exchange land with Big Bend, and end up giving them more land.
3. Pink and Blue.

4. I don't know anyone who colors, but I think the trend is interesting, because its not often that you see adults doing "childish activities".

5. I would like to see 'Beyonce's Wild West', because  Beyonce is awesome, and also I think the show would be very
funny.

According to the article on page 1 "Scientists: 2015 is hottest year ever recorded" global warming isn't slowing down. Read the article and respond to the prompts below"

The main cause of global warming is the emissions of greenhouse gases. This emission could be a result of the large numbers of cars on the road today. Due to global warming, the weather is becoming more and more unpredictable. Weather now can change from droughts to floods in only a few months. Global warming is of growing concern, and I for one am concerned about what this could mean for our future. If the situation isn't addressed, it will get worse and worse. Our society needs to change how much we pollute our earth, or else things will continue to decline. For starters, we need to start using more alternative energy instead of relying on gas and coal. A great way to begin this is to begin putting solar panels on buildings, or start collecting water in a rain barrel. Alternatively, we could build more hydroelectric damns in some of the major lakes, although building these would risk flooding the area and negatively effect nearby wildlife, but there are very few other options that could be done in the city of Austin, because the weather conditions aren't optimal for windmills. Overall, global warming is a major issue in our world today, and something must be done about it, before the situation gets to far out of hand. Once the pollution gets to a certain point, there will be nothing we can do about it, and our world will no longer be able to support our population.

Photo Composition

Simplicity

This photo is simplistic, because the subject (the man) is falling in front of a very basic background.

The Rule Of Thirds

This is the rule of thirds because, the helicopter is in the upper left intersecting lines on the third.

Lines

This is a representation of lines because, there are lines on the building where the walls were.

Balance
This is an example of balance, because the twin towers are both equally represented in the center of the picture.

Framing

The wreckage is framed by the opening to the building, the column, and the floor.

Merger

This is a merger, because much of the firefighter is cut off in places that aren't very good for the image, such as his hands, also, he looks as if he is going to run into the pole.

Symmetry and Patterns

View Point

Creating Depth

CE 4.1

1. A breakup note, Retrospective, Social push, Tee up for Democrats, and Austin Represented

2. Sean Penn went to go see "El Chapo" after he had been obtained.

3. "Space Oddity", "Fame", "Heroes", and "Lets Dance".

4. 1.4 billion dollars.

5. I would go to see Star Wars at Disney World, because I like the Star Wars movies, and I am a big fan.

If I were able to buy lottery tickets I would, everyone wants the chance to win the lottery, even if they have a low chance of winning, especially now that the amount that you win has gone up. Since the rise in cost has been so publicized, everyone knows about it and is going to try their luck. Even my mother who does not commonly buy tickets bought one because of such large winnings. I would certainly invest in buying a ticket for the chance to win so much money.

If I won the lottery I would buy my dad a new house, my mom a house, and then go on a shopping spree with one million dollars only. I would buy a car for myself that I would drive when I get a license, and pay for my quinceanera so that my mom wouldn't have to pay for it. I would also make my sister and niece a trust fund so that they can pay for college when they get that old.
Then I would employ a financial adviser who can tell me how to invest my money in a way that will get me even more over time.

With only three million dollars, I would pay for my quinceanera, give both my parents a hundred thousand dollars, and invest the rest, so that I can later pay for my schooling, my sister's and my niece's.

Welcome Back!

I like this photo because it shows a well known situation that happened in 2016, and it is showing how much the people in France cared about what happened, and to they wanted to show their respect to those who unfortunately lost their lives, I like the aspect of people doing something good.

I like this picture because I find it interesting how NASA went out of their way to make a new composition of photos of the 'old' solar system, including Pluto even thought it isn't currently considered a planet.

I like this image because it was important in space history because it is the first time they had found water on another planet, it was amazing to find water on Mars, because it means now that there is the possibility of life, and that opens up new doors to space travel and colinization.

1. The best song of 2015 was Photograph by Ed Sheeran. I liked this song because it has a lot of emotion and it is catchy. It was on the top 40 list, because Ed Sheeran is a popular artist, others like me, like Ed Sheeran as well, because he is a good person and his music appeals to the masses in the way that his music is easy to listen to and makes you feel good. His music generally makes people in a good mood, even if the song is sad like this one. Even if it is sad, it can make you feel better if you are sad because you can have something to relate to.

2. I think Inside Out was the best movie of 2015, because it was funny and cute, but also filled with a lot of emotion about growing up, which is why I liked it. The characters were funny, and it was an interesting take on what is going on inside our minds. The show appeals to both children and adults, because even though it is a cartoon the story was inciting and could keep anyones interest.

3. The most important news story of 2015 was the Syrian refugee crisis which was a global issue that effected millions of people in countries all over Europe and the Middle East. This issue was so extremely controversial that almost everyone in their right minds had heard of it. Even though it was not completely resolved, the attention brought to it got help that was necessary.

4. The biggest entertainment story of last year was the Star Wars release. It was an extremely good movie, that captivated audiences, and had people going to see it multiple times. The release of the film has been anticipated for years and the fact that the movie was finally released excited fans who had been waiting for the new movie to finally come out.

1. I will remember my trip to Florida, because it is most likely the last time I will get to see my family there again for a few years.

2. My resolutions for 2016 are to get better grades by focussing more in school, and getting my work out schedule together again.

3.I look forward to all the new advancements in astronomy that are being planned for 2016.
