Photo Manipulation and Ethics

When photographers that work for big newspaper companies edit their photos, it can create a large amount of ethical controversy. Many people believe that altering people inside the photos is an issue, but some photographers don't agree, which is why they use photo editing. Unethical photo editing can cost photographers their jobs, which is why photographers are careful with the editing they do to their photos.

I think that this type of photo editing is not acceptable. You should not alter an image that would cause controversy. In that situation it is better to leave the image alone, instead of risking causing a problem.

I find this image to be the most unethical, because the newspaper group edited in a minority just so that there would be diversity within the image, by doing this it makes the school seem more diverse, but in reality it is just edited to look like that. This image portrays an inaccurate diversity that isn't naturally occurring within the image.

In my opinion, this is the least unethical image, because they are only changing a small portion of the image, and the woman's smile isn't relevant to the story, so the editing isn't as relevant or offensive. Although, they are creating unnecessary changes to the subject of the image, which is unethical.
