Lonestar #1-News Evaluation

Age old battle still on going

Who: Parker Smith
What: Stood up against rape culture
When: September 4, 2015
Where: At her school
Why: She was dress coded for something she wore
How: She talked to the administration

Parker Smith was dresscoded, and she felt that she needed to speak out in order to stand up for her rights in society. The administrators have deemed that wearing certain things are immoral and that we should be forced to cover up. In Parker's opinion the dress code is unfair to women in the school community, and she believes that they deserve more freedom in the way that they dress, and she is doing what she can to get more freedom by talking to administrators.

SAT and ACT will change in March

Who: Judd Pfieffer
What: Says the SAT and ACT will be different
When: in March 2016
Where: In AISD
Why: Its a new version of the test.

The SAT and ACTs will be different, and that means that students need to get prepared. By doing things such as reading and practicing, the test scores will go up and it could be easier for students. These tests are important and students should aim to do very well on these tests.

Judd Pfieffer (indirect and direct), Isabela Doberenz (direct), Ricky Ramirez (direct).

One opinion in this article is that "just by reading for 30 minutes a day the score will go up". There is no evidence given that supports this, so i believe it is an opinion that reading raises test scores.

The title doesn't really explain the story, the title doesn't say anything about tips on how to do well on these tests, like the article.

Yes.

Fit bell schedule remains the same after proposals last year

Who: Bowie High School officials
What: Almost changed the bell schedule but didn't
When: Last Year
Where: Bowie High School
Why: The schedule wasn't working for students
How: By alternating A and B days instead of changing

Bowie High school was going to change the bell schedule in an attempt to synch with other schools and make things easier for students. Students apposed the plan and wanted a less confusing bell schedule. The bell schedule ended up remaining the same other than a ten minute push, although this push is disliked by students because it shortens the passing period.

Emily Heim (direct), Nicole Moore (direct), Kalia Aquino (direct), Patricia Conroy (both), Matt Saucier (direct), Lili Benitez (both), Sahaj Mann (both).

I didn't find any opinion in the article.
The title describes the plot for the most part, but it doesn't say anything about the students who dislike the changes.

When: In 2013

Vicki Helbert (direct), Tanner Howell (direct), Robert Rasmus (direct).
